Tapestry Crochet |
|
According to
http://www.tapestrycrochet.com/ :
Tapestry crochet (also called mosaic crochet, jacquard crochet, intarsia,
colorwork, fair isle, and hard crochet) is similar to regular crochet,
except that one or more yarns are usually carried while another is
crocheted. The finished pieces look woven instead of crocheted.

triple yo-yo |
 |
A triple yo-yo is 3 rounds. There are
two ways to make these. One uses 12, 24, 36
stitches. That would be 12 in ring, 2 in each st, then increase in every
other stitch to get 36.
The other is made the same,
continuing the basic yo-yo. It starts with 16 dc in ring, then 2 in each,
then increase in every other stitch - 16, 32, 48.
If you are making for a charity, all the circles need to be the same so ask
the person joining what she accepts.

Variegated yarn |
 |
In a variegated skein the strand changes to
different colors in sequence, like blue to green to white or whatever,
rather than different shades of the same color. Variegated yarns are
sometimes subject to flashing and pooling, where particular colors make an
unexpected pattern or where colors pool in certain spots |
V-st
V-stitch |
 |
A V-Stitch is actually a group of stitches
that looks like a "V" (an open triangle)
(dc, ch 1, dc) is a common example
Please see the tutorial in Special Stitches for more
information. |
X-st
X-stitch |
 |
To work the X-stitch, you skip a stitch, double crochet
in the next stitch, then, crossing in front of the stitch you just made,
work a double crochet.
Another option is to go behind the stitch made, to work a
back x-stitch.
Please see the tutorial in Special
Stitches for more information. |
x times (multiple)
method of figuring number of chains for foundation chain |
ex. multiple of 3 + 1
(3 x 8) = 24 + 1 = 25
You would make 25 chains |
multiply the multiple by another number to get
the number of stitches you need to make on your foundation chain |

Y-st
Y-stitch |
 |
I just found this stitch and thought it was cute. The way
it is made is that you work a treble (triple crochet), ch 1, and work a
double crochet around the post of the treble, creating the Y shape. On
succeeding rows, you can make your Y's in the ch-1 from this row if desired. |
