Decrease - Basic Stitches

There has been a trend lately to write decreases a 2tog. In other words sc2tog, or dc2tog. This is just a decrease over two stitches. You might even see sc3tog, which would be a decrease over 3 stitches. This has come up so often, I wanted to put it here so you would know it is just another way of saying the same thing.

Decrease

Single Crochet

HDC Crochet

Fig 1 yo, insert hook into  top two loops of stitch (unless otherwise specified),	Fig 2 yo, pull through stitch, yo,  3 loops on hook.	Fig 3 yo, insert hook in next st,
Fig 4  yo, pull through st, 5 loops on hk,		Fig 5 yo, draw through all lps

Double Crochet

Fig 1 yo, insert hook into top two loops of stitch (unless otherwise specified), yo, pull through stitch (3 lps on hk),	Fig 2 yo,  pull through 2 lps, (2 loops on hk), At this point you are one step away from completing a regular dc,	Fig 3 do not finish the dc but instead... yo, insert hook into next stitch,
Fig 4 yo, pull through stitch (4 lps on hk),	Fig 5 yo,  pull through 2 lps (3 lps on hk),	Fig6  yo, pull through all 3 lps
