About Sandie & Crochet Cabana
Sandra Petit began her crochet journey during a vacation trip in the summer of 1980 when fellow travelers Katy and Diane offered to teach her the basics. Since that time, she has worked on increasing her knowledge and expertise of the craft.
She is a Craft Yarn Council of America Certified Crochet Teacher and has received the Crochet Guild of America’s Master of Advanced Crochet Stitches and Techniques certificate.
Crochet Cabana began as a few pages on the Internet in October, 1997. To her amazement, others found the information there useful for their own needs as well. Crochet Cabana outgrew several hosts before space was purchased at Site5 where it presently resides.
Sandra has personally taught crochet in a classroom setting as well as in one-to-one instruction, but the bulk of her teaching is through the Crochet Cabana tutorials, both in print and video.
She has designed a number of patterns, some of which are free, and some which can be found in her Etsy and Ravelry shops online.
While crocheting on her many projects, she also enjoys the TV series Doctor Who. A dedicated Whovian, Gallifreyan Crochetin’ is a site dedicated to the Fourth Doctor’s iconic colorful scarf and other projects with a Doctor Who theme.
Besides crocheting, Sandra is a published Christian romance author. Her work can be found in the anthologies A Time for Angels, The Bouquet, and Angels for Christmas. Her faith is an important part of her life. If you are interested in learning more about Christianity, click here.
In December 2012, Sandra and her husband celebrated 30 years of marriage. They are the proud parents of two adult children and in-laws to a wonderful son-in-law. A shih-tzu/bichon frise mix 4-year-old resides with them. They currently reside in southern Louisiana.
