My intent was
to use 12" squares, so I added extra rounds to Janie's squares which were
smaller. I used an H hook and my own color schemes based primarily on what yarns
I had on hand. The extra rounds are my own design but feel free to use my ideas
if you'd like to work something similar.
Lovely Lace (#58, p. 126)
100 Afghans to Knit & Crochet
by Jean Leinhauser and Rita Weiss
Lovely Lace started as a different square and I changed my mind. So the first
couple rounds are different than Janie's pattern. I took the sc, ch 3 of
the original pattern and incorporated it here along with the finishing rounds.
The original square was 7" and 9 rounds and used pinks - which were lovely!

Land of the Free (8"), p. 70
In
50 Fabulous Crochet Squares (Leisure Arts #4420)
by Jean Leinhauser and
Rita Weiss
Land of the Free was originally an 8" square. It uses the cluster stitch. I kept
to red, white, and blue but did not copy the color scheme in the book exactly.

Polka Dot Country (#56, p. 122)
100 Afghans to Knit & Crochet
by Jean Leinhauser and Rita Weiss
Polka Dot Country uses the puff stitch and the V-stitch. The original
square was 9" for 8 rounds.

Monet Pineapple (#15, p. 36)
100 Afghans to Knit & Crochet
by Jean Leinhauser and Rita Weiss
Monet Pineapple. It came out perfectly in size. I have always liked the
pineapple pattern, but you do have to pay attention when you're making it.
Errata: In Monet Pineapple there is also a small printing error. In Rnd 9 it
should say *work (2 dc, ch 2, 2dc) " rather than just "dc".

Embossed Floral was a 7" square. You'll notice in each book a different color
scheme is used and I did a variation of my own as well.

12" Drop in the Bucket square
Drop In The
Bucket square which you can find at Crochet Cabana in the Charity patterns
section. It is a 12" square originally so no additions necessary.
Here's another version of this square that I did for a Bible Study with my
yahoogroup.

Tropical Daisy (#81, p. 174)
100 Afghans to Knit & Crochet
by Jean Leinhauser and Rita Weiss
Tropical Daisy was a 10" square. I had a problem keeping this one flat, but it
joined well when all was said and done.
***
Marvelous Mauve (#53, p. 116)
100 Afghans to Knit & Crochet
by Jean Leinhauser and Rita Weiss
Marvelous Mauve was a 12" square. I don't recall making any changes to it
except, of course, it isn't mauve. :-)

Blueberry Pie (#17, p. 40)
100 Afghans to Knit & Crochet
by Jean Leinhauser and Rita Weiss
Blueberry Pie was a 12" square, but I did have to add to it. I guess my gauge
was different. I liked the end result though. Lots of ends to sew in with the
color changes. It uses clusters, V-stitch, and shells.
Errate: There was a small error in Round 10 of Blueberry Pie. it should say
"skip next dc" not "tr", right at the beginning.
***
Soft and Sweet (#94, p. 204)
100 Afghans to Knit & Crochet
by Jean Leinhauser and Rita Weiss
Soft and Sweet was an 8" square. The original square uses white, pink, and green
and it just beautiful. I wouldn't mind doing a whole afghan with this one.

50 Fabulous Crochet Squares (Leisure Arts #4420) by Jean Leinhauser and

Sage Wheel (#47, p. 102)

Raspberries and Cream afghan
This one was quite interesting to work. I took a photo of it as I began a few
rounds, before it was completed. It was a 12" square.
When I was
ready to assemble these squares, I counted the stitches and to my surprise all
the squares had 40 more or less stitches. Meaning some have 41 or 42 and some
might have 39, but generally all in the 40 range but one. That made it very easy
to assemble them.
