I made the squares for this

These were made using the pattern
Nursery Hearts in Crochet with Heart magazine, Feb. '97. The one on the
left was done in green and yellow (the colors don't show up well in the
picture, but it's more pastel). The one on the right was blue and white.
These are individual squares sewn together. Lots of ends.
This pattern was reprinted in
A Year of Baby Afghans, Book 3, #3143 (Oct. 1999)
which can be purchased from
Leisure Arts web site
and also from

Here I used the same basic design from the
pattern
Nursery Hearts in Crochet with Heart magazine, Feb. '97 but worked the hearts in vertical strips, to
give fewer ends to sew in. I used blue and white in the ghan on the left and
yellow for the one on the right. The yellow one was 35" x 40" with worsted
wt yarn. The blue was worked with

Here is that same heart design used in

This is the Baby Love and Prayers afghan,
put aside for one of my future grandkids. It was a lot of work, but well
worth the end result. |

This ghan was made in Jan 2004 for Katie
Paige Roberts, new baby of Zac and Stephanie. I used an H hook and the
Shell Stitch pattern in Weekend Afghans. I
chained 129 and worked 6 shell patterns to make this baby size. Finished
size was 38" x 40".

This is a double sided flannel blanket
purchased from
Hemstitcher and edged in crochet using #10 multi colored thread. I put a
round of sc in the pre-punched holes and then went back with a (sc, ch 2, 2
dc, sk 2) border. It is suggested that you fold over the serged edge, but I
did not fold it over. |

This one is plain old granny squares,
worked in pink and white with a pretty border round it.
|

This is a second pattern using the puff
heart from BL&P to the left, but worked in vertical stripes, rather than
horizontal.

This blankie was crocheted for a sweet
little girl in Alaska, Samantha. The pattern is
Keepsake Cover-Up in Quick and Cozy
Afghans by Leisure Arts. The
actual pattern is for a baby blankie, worked with a K hook, but I used a G
hook to make it a smaller doll blankie. It works up fast. I made the two
blankies in four days from start to finish. Samantha's blankie was made
using Wool Ease yarn.
|

This doll blankie was crocheted for
Samantha's sister, Darby. It uses the same pattern as the green one,
Keepsake Cover-Up in Quick and Cozy
Afghans by Leisure Arts,
but Red Heart yarn. |

This baby afghan was made with
Caron Sayelle lt fir green. The pattern is
Keepsake Cover-Up from Quick
and Cozy Afghans. I used a J hook instead of a K. It came out about 32 x 38 1/2"
with the shell border around it. It works up really quick and is very pretty
IMHO. The pattern calls for worsted weight yarn, but it looks nice in baby yarn
also, but I would increase the foundation chain for baby yarn
or it will be very tiny. I made
one once with a G hook and it was only 22" wide. It was for one of my daughter's
dolls. (She loved it.)
To increase the foundation chain without
figuring out the multiple, just make a chain a little bit longer than you think
you want it and start working the pattern. When you get to a good stopping
point, just go on to the second row. You can undo any leftover chains later.
Note: This only works if the first row is the actual pattern row and not just a
single or double crochet row.
|

This is the SAME basic pattern as the Double X-Stitch at the
Cabana. The
Rosey Peach
Baby Afghan is single strand and uses
one row of double crochet between the XS and hole rows. It came out about
35" square. The color is actually soft peach, but I find it has a rose tint,
hence the name.

Same color but this one is the Rosey Peach
Box Stitch. It's 37" square and worked in the straight box stitch as
Samantha's Box Stitch Afghan
