The
Straight Box Stitch BORDER: Rnd 1: using white, work 2sc in same stitch where you put your last sc (this is your corner stitch) as pictured above, sc evenly down left side of work. note: remember that for each two rows, one ends in sc and one in dc, sl st in first st, ch 3, 3dc in same stitch (first box made)
work sc along side capturing yarn that was carried along the ends at the color changes, ending in the white dc
Rnd 2: 3 dc in corner, dc in ea sc across, 3 dc in corner sc, * join with sl stitch to ch-3, sl st in next dc, sc in next dc, hdc in next dc, rep from * across row, 3dc in corner, dc across in ea sc, 3dc for rounded corner, join with sl st to first dc, changing to green Rnd 3: With green, ch 3, 2dc in corner, dc all the way around blankie, working 3 dc in each corner - you can approximate where that there corner is You should have a straight edging all the way around now with rounded corners. Don't be afraid to adjust stitches to fit your crocheting tension or taste. Here is a picture of the completed afghan, showing size. And there you have it. You can now use the box stitch either diagonally or in a straight row. :-) This really is a neat stitch to know. It's warm and pretty, good for a girl or a guy since it's not too frilly. You can use one color or many colors. As you can see it's very versatile. So go out and have fun with it!
