Triple (Treble) Crochet (tr)

Note: The back of the foundation will look different in some pictures as for some I used the back bump, and others I went into the front chain. I did it twice, but used the pictures that came out best, so some are one and some are the other. The method is the same regardless of which manner you worked the foundation chain.

1) make a foundation chain, yo twice (picture shows one yo)

2) insert hook into 5th chain from hook (I used the back hump method here)

3) yo, pull through (4 loops on hook)

4) yo, pull through 2 loops (3 loops on hook)

5) yo, pull through 2 loops (2 loops on hook)

Note: same step but this is what it looks like if you go in through the front of the chain

6) yo, pull through 2 loops to complete one triple crochet (the 4 chains at the beginning count as a triple crochet also, so the picture actually shows 2 triple crochets)

7) continue making triples across row. Picture shows 12 triple crochets (that includes your beginning chain-4)

first row completed

8) chain 4 to bring up to height

Row 2

9) turn

6) yo twice, insert hook in second  stitch of row

Q: Why in second stitch?

A: Your chain-4 counts as a stitch

8) yo and pull through 2 loops (4 loops on hook)

9) yo, pull through 2 loops (3 loops on hook)

10) yo, pull through 2 loops (2 loops on hook)

11) yo, pull through last 2 loops

triple crochet complete

12) one stitch remaining on row 2

13) last stitch complete

The buttons above were my first at the Cabana. I keep them for sentimental reasons. :-)
